Mount Vernon High School’s boys’ and girls’ bowling teams finished as runners-up in the Licking County League, and Senior Griffin Beach won the LCL Bowler of the Year award.
The boys’ and girls’ teams finished out their seasons, placing second in the LCL with a 14-3 and 8-4, respectively. Additionally, the top bowler, Griffin Beach, finished his senior season with an average of 208 pins per match, the best in the LCL by 3 pins.
“I’m really proud of how I bowled this year,” stated Beach. “I never really had any super high sets this year, but I was just consistently good.”
However, Beach was not the only high-achieving bowler on the team this year. On the girls’ side of the lanes, Junior Dani Bumpus earned second team
All-LCL team and Junior Haylie Watts earned Honorable Mention All-LCL team. for the boys, Freshman Andrew Primm and Junior Cooper Ferguson earned Honorable Mention honors.
“I think the bowling team could do well in the coming years. It will just be important to recruit underclassmen and incoming freshmen,” expressed Beach.
