Robotics teams are headed to State
Robotics teams from all over the state of Ohio found their way to Energy Fieldhouse last weekend. Friday saw 45 middle school teams representing 10 districts competed for their shot at advancing to the State Tournament.
Saturday 24high school teams representing nine districts arrived to the Fieldhouse. All 4 high schools teams made it into the elimination rounds with 3 making it to the semifinals. 43050X – Mason Chestnut, Grant Mesarchik, Ben Henricksen, and Sala Glandon received the Excellence award qualifying them to go to the State Tournament.
The teams went through a skills challenge, interviews, and match play. MVHS 43050X advanced to State based upon their interview skills.
” No Mount Vernon High School team has made it to worlds and we are hoping to do that,” said freshman Ben Henricksen.
MVHS partnered with MVNU, Kokosing, and other local manufactures to serve a judges and volunteers for the event.
Two teams have also qualified for state based on a previous tournament.
High School- 43050W- Aspen McMahon, Simon Peterson, and Natasha Jose
Middle School 43050E- Hailey Waibel, Myla Miller, Trinity Phillips, and William Andrews
High School will compete at state on March 1st and Middle School will compete at state on March 2.
