Traditions were on display at Pleasant Street Thursday Night

Wrestling prepares for their duel

Traditions are important in a school setting. Traditions are especially meaningful in sports. For some athletes the impact exists immediately. For others, the impact of the tradition will come much later. Make no mistake, it will come. The meaning has a way showing up just when you need it the most. We hear those stories all the time, from friends and family who have moved onto the next level. They talk of the closeness and the caring of each member who walked onto a field, a court, and a mat. The embrace felt from a community devoted to each of its sons and daughters.

Pleasant Street Elementary brought it all into sharper focus tonight. The Class of 2023 stood proud tonight and it was their night, but so many returned for one last match at Pleasant Street. It’s was a night for everyone who sat in your spot, wore your uniform, cheered in that gym, graduated from this school, and lived in this community.
Tonight , they were with you, just like they were when the first wrestlers walked into the gym at Pleasant Street. Whether in Pleasant Street, Energy Field House or scattered across the country, the lessons learned through sweat and tears will always be close too your heart. You are carrying their tradition, their pride and their love for something more than just a building
