Education and healthcare are two pillars of a thriving community, and when they come together, they can create a powerful synergy. In an exciting development, Mount Vernon High School has partnered with Nationwide Children’s Hospital to open a school-based health center. This collaboration aims to provide students with easy access to quality healthcare services, promoting their well-being and academic success.
This collaboration was made possible when Governor DeWine made grants available for 500,000. Mount Vernon City Schools applied for the grant and was awarded the funds to begin their school-based health center.
School-based health centers (SBHCs) have been gaining popularity across the United States due to their numerous benefits. These centers offer a wide range of medical services right on the school campus, making healthcare more accessible to students. Mount Vernon officials were able to tour a few school-based health centers down south which allowed the plans to begin.
Recognizing the importance of health in academic success, the school’s administration, along with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, has taken a bold step towards establishing a school-based health center within the campus.
