What began four years ago as a simple idea to engage senior fall athletes and band members in the community has blossomed into a beloved tradition that both seniors and elementary students eagerly anticipate each year.
On the Friday before the much-anticipated homecoming dance, seniors from the high school’s fall sports teams, the Homecoming Court, and the band make their way to each of the six local elementary schools, greeted by enthusiastic cheers from students in grades K through 5. What started as a one-time pep rally visit has since become a spirited event filled with laughter, music, and lasting memories.
The senior cheerleaders lead the crowd in energizing cheers, while the band plays favorite tunes that get everyone moving. The celebration culminates in a playful and competitive game of “head, shoulders, knees, and cones,” where one victorious student from each school emerges.
More than just a pep rally, the event fosters meaningful connections between the youngest students and the high school seniors. It creates a sense of community, school pride, and mentorship, planting seeds for friendships and inspiration that organizers hope will endure for a lifetime.
This tradition is more than just a warm-up for homecoming—it’s a powerful reminder of the joy and unity that come from coming together across generations, celebrating school spirit in its purest form.
