On Sunday, September 14th, more than 100 people gathered at Ariel Foundation Park for the Cere-bration Walk, Roll, Run 5K — an event focused on raising awareness for traumatic brain injuries (TBI). One of the largest teams at the event was “Fight for 3,” made up of 54 participants walking in honor of Delaney Rothgeb.
Delaney, a TBI survivor, Mount Vernon High School alumni and advocate, has become a symbol of strength and hope in the community. Though she can’t speak with her voice, Delaney shared a powerful message with the crowd: she will not be silenced.
“Fight for 3” has been the rallying cry for the past five years, representing Delaney’s ongoing journey and her mission to support others with TBI. Her progress and determination continue to inspire everyone around her.
For many, the most emotional moment came at the end of the race. “My favorite part of the whole race is watching Delaney walk across the finish line,” said teacher Lauren Townley.
Delaney is getting stronger every day, and her story continues to motivate those who know her — and even those who don’t.
