The
collection period for the Fall Vedette Showcase has begun and ends on September 26. It is open to ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF at Mount Vernon High School.
The theme is World Mythology. Give us your stories, paintings, pictures, songs, poems, videos, sculptures, costumes, recipes, designs, puzzles, performances, skits, art in various mediums (textile, wood, metal, clay), jewelry… The list goes on. Use your imagination!
Greek and Roman mythology is great, but there are many more. Consider the following: Norse
Chinese, Japanese, Native American (Hopi, Navajo, Lakota, Cherokee, Iroquois, etc.), African (Yoruba, Akan, Fon, Ewe, San, etc.), Celtic, Egyptian, Hindu, Mesopotamian Mythology (Epic of Gilgamesh), and more!
Need a jumpstart? Some topics to consider:
- gods/goddesses
- monsters/mythical creatures
- allusions to myths
- retellings of myths
- culture mashing — have characters from different cultures interact
- a comparison of creation myths
- create your own myth
- create/perform a ballad/epic
Take it any direction you want (just keep it school appropriate).
We’d love to see the cool stuff you are creating.
Pieces will be displayed in the cafeteria display case and/or on
Vedette’s webpage.
You can turn in any physical work to me (room 253, by the cafeteria). Upload any digital work to the Vedette Classroom (class code: dfwvkzqw).
For all submissions, please fill out a Showcase Submission Form for each piece: linked HERE.
The online showcase will go up after the collection period, but you can always check out our
webpage.
Remember that we would like to see what both students AND staff are creating!
