The Global Scholars Diploma is a three-year program designed to help high school students become globally aware and ready to make a difference in the world.
During the first two years, students attend in-person events where local experts talk about their experiences with different cultures, global careers, and important world issues. The third-year students take part in what is called a “Take Action Project” where they can use what they have learned to make an impact on the world.
Mount Vernon High School’s Year 2 students went to the Ohio History Center. They listened to a presentation on “How We Know What We Know” and used that information to take in more knowledge throughout the rest of the day.
Ohio Historical Center employees presented a segment on identifying artifacts and utilizing their observations to determine what an object could be.
Mount Vernon students also met with speakers from a wide variety of areas around the world to learn more about other cultures and customs. These experiences help Mount Vernon students build skills in global knowledge and acknowledgement.
