On Thursday, the Licking County League’s LEADS program brought together student-athletes from across the region for a dynamic leadership conference held in Mount Vernon. Six student-athletes from each of the 11 participating schools joined forces to learn, connect, and grow through shared experiences and leadership development.
A highlight of the day was a keynote address by Otis Wilson—Ohio State University athlete and accomplished actor. In his inspiring presentation, “Stuttering to Success,” Wilson shared his powerful personal journey, highlighting the challenges he faced growing up in Youngstown, Ohio. With messages centered on perseverance, grit, and the value of a strong work ethic, he encouraged the students to embrace adversity as a stepping stone to success.
Wilson’s story of overcoming obstacles—both on the field and in life—resonated deeply with the student-athletes, leaving them with a renewed sense of motivation and purpose as they continue their leadership journeys
