Many who walk the halls of Mount Vernon High School may never know the accomplishments junior Reagan Frazee has achieved.
Frazee is a dedicated competitor with a relentless drive to succeed. Her journey embodies resilience, dedication, and passion for her sport.
Frazee began her gymnastics career at age three and has stayed consistent with her training over the years. She trains at Gym X-Treme in Lewis Center, Ohio, and typically practices 20 hours a week. “I’ve made some of my closest friendships that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. My coaches are my second parents, and I’m so thankful to call the gym my second home.”
Frazee’s dedication to her sport has paid off in many ways. A few of Frazee’s accomplishments include level 9 AA+ beam state champ, level 9 beam regional champ, 2x Eastern National Qualifier and 5x Regional Qualifier. At Eastern Nationals, she placed 3rd on beam in 2023 and 2024, 3rd on vault and 4th on floor in 2024.
Frazee not only excels in gymnastics but in academics as well: she is a dedicated member of National Honor Society, Global Scholars, and consistently earns a spot on the honor roll.
However, Frazee’s journey has not gone without its challenges. She tore her ACL and lateral meniscus while completing a beam dismount in September. This injury has been difficult for her both mentally and physically, and set her out for her entire junior season. But Frazee has goals to reach and is working her hardest to come back. She attends physical therapy, works at home, and still attends practice and conditioning. Now, six months post-operation, Frazee was just cleared to jog and do light skills such as cartwheels.“This process has taught me to be patient, consistent, and celebrate the little wins,” Frazee said.
Looking ahead, her dream is to be a collegiate gymnast. “I was on the right track to achieve those goals, but this setback has put that on hold,” Frazee stated.
Frazee is unsure if college gymnastics will be an option for her as she missed her entire junior season due to an injury. But Frazee is confident that “If it is meant to happen, it will happen”.
With only 80 schools across the United States offering gymnastics programs, finding a spot on a team is extremely difficult, but Frazee continues to work hard in and out of the gym to come back strong for her senior season. In college, she wants to major in exercise science and then apply to a doctorate program to become a physical or occupational therapist.
As Frazee prepares for her final season in high school with an intense drive to succeed, she knows the road ahead won’t be easy. But for a gymnast who has soared to the top, endured pain, and never given up, this comeback is more than medals or routines; it’s closure and redemption. Whether she’s on the podium or not, Frazee is eager to come back stronger than ever.
