AP Literature and KAP History students were honored to attend a presentation featuring renowned dancer Clarence Brooks, who will be teaching a historic solo to a senior dance major this semester. Choreographed by Talley Beatty, a prominent Black choreographer who confronted racial prejudice in the 1940s, this solo delves into themes of racial injustice and resilience. Inspired by Howard Fast’s novel Freedom Road, the dance powerfully reflects the struggles and realities of life in the post-Civil War South.
